Managing and Finding Images in the Media Library

The Media Library does not have a lot of options that will help you organize files but here are some things that will make it easier to find what you need

Right below “Media Library” you will find two icons. Use these to switch from grid view to list view or vise versa

You will only need to do this first step once, but each user (each separate login) will need to do it.

  • Go to the list view
  • In the upper right click Screen Options
  • Check all boxes
  • Change Number of items per page  to 999
  • Click Apply
  • Now 999 files will load without the need to go to the next page

Use the search box to search for files by their file name. If it is easy to find the image you want on the front end of the site, hover over that image for a few seconds and the title will pop up as a tool tip. Type this into the Media Library search box.

Sorting the file(s) to find what you need.

  • Click the column “File” column heading to sort files alphabetically by title
    • Click again to again to change from ascending to descending or vise versa
  • Click the column “Date” column heading to sort files by date uploaded
    • Click again to again to change from ascending to descending or vise versa
  • Click the column “Author” column heading to sort file by who uploaded them
